The single

"Into the Void" was released as a single only in Australia. This Australian release does not have a halo number, making it the only commercially-available Nine Inch Nails release with that distinction. However, a two-track promotional CD for "Into the Void", released only in the United States, was identified as Halo Sixteen.

The version of "The Perfect Drug" included on this single is slightly longer than the one released on the Lost Highway soundtrack. It fades out at the end instead of ending abruptly.

Releases

* Universal Music 497 224-2 - CD

Track listing

1. "Into The Void" - 4:52
2. "We're In This Together" - 7:18
3. "The Perfect Drug" - 5:43
4. "The New Flesh" - 3:40

Why are these labled "Halo"? Would reading have solved this mystery?

No reason that I know of. They could've been labeled Mule, but Halo sounded cooler.

If you mean every halo, then yes. If you mean do I have every single variation available, then not by a long shot. There are so many variations that I don't think anyone will ever have a true, one hundred percent complete collection.

Just a few days ago someone found a new variation of halo 1. They were going to scan the back insert, so they pulled out the cd tray. In the bottom right hand corner of the insert behind the tray was a 'Made in Canada' imprint. A lot of collectors checked their copies, and the 'Made in Canada' version seems to be common, but someone found that theirs didn't have the imprint.

People are still finding variations of discs from '89, so I find it highly unlikely that anyone will have a perfectly complete collection anytime soon. Add that to the fact that he's still releasing material, and that means even more variations to come.

I find that there are two types of Nine Inch Nails collectors. There are casual collectors. They want the basics. Maybe one of each halo. Then there are the OCD collectors. They'll track down every single variation they can get their hands on. I fall into the OCD category.

I know of the ITV single. I had a copy, but I can't find it. Since I've unboxed what I'm pretty sure is my entire collection and still haven't found it I'm gonna chalk it up as lost. Cost me $9.99 when it came out. It now goes anywhere from $75-125.

I know of the MOTP Pt.2 also. Never had it though. MOTP was released in the UK as a two CD set. You could either buy it as a double-sized digipack with both discs, or you could buy them seperately. If you opted for the seperate purchases the Pt.2 came in a slim-line jewl case with blue artwork, and Pt.1 came in a double-sized digipack just like the set of two with the second tray being empty.

I have the two CD set and the seperate Pt.1, but I never came across a seperate Pt.2 in any brick and mortar stores. I put off buying it, and now it's pretty hard to come by. Not extremely rare, but uncommon enough to elude me.

I only know about those two I posted because I use to see them all the time a few years back. HMV carries a lot of imports. Of course I never bought them because I was only interested in albums back then...

If you ever see anything I don't have pick it up, and I'll pay you back. I'm not asking you to go to the point of having to look at the discs catalog numbers or anything, but if you see any Canadian releases I don't have or anything like the ITV or MOTP Pt.2 grab it.

Received my pre-order today. DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions. Also got a limited edition lithograph for pre-ordering. I was under the impression that you got one for ordering, but apparently you got one for each pre-ordered item instead of just one per order.

Also got the Blu-ray and another HD-DVD promo.

Closer to God Canadian re-release and Collected.

And then there's this. I saw it on eBay, and showed it to my Spliff. I'd never seen one before. I passed on it since I'd already spent plenty (too much by my standards) this month. Went to check the mail today, and it was sitting on my doorstep.

The catalog number is the same as the regular release, but it has the cut corner. It has the three press sheets too. One is a tracklist with production credits and the like instead of the full color insert that comes with the retail copy. The other two are bio sheets, which seem to be a formal introduction to what NIN is. It also feels sorta non-formal, because towards the end it says, "For more information just give me a call" and, "I look forward to speaking with you soon.". Apparently whomever this originally belonged to knew people at TVT on at least a somewhat personal level. All three press sheets also have an address, fone and fax number where Ms. Sioux, who signed with "Kindest Regards", can be found.

He wasn't talking to you. He was talking to Splifff.

And just in case you haven't figured it out, this was why I'm going to slam your neighbor's screen door repeatedly while shouting, "For Allah!" and wearing a huge sombrero made of tortilla.
