BEST MOVIE EVER!

Postby exolstice » Wed Feb 18, 2009 2:51 pm

I called it here first, and if I'm wrong I'll eat my hat:

The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone's throwback to the action classics of the 1980s, just got a whole lot cooler with news that Arnold Schwarzenegger is joining the cast.

The role shouldn't be too much of a stretch for the big fella' however, as the Governator will apparently be playing 'Governer Arnold Schwarzenegger' in the movie.

There's no news yet regarding how his character fits into the story of a group of merceneries entering a South American country to overthrow its dictator, but according to Ain't It Cool News, the Governor has some history with Stallone's character, originating from the time of the Conan the Barbarian shoot.

And for those concerned about his political endeavours, have no fear - Arnie will only be spending one day on set before returning to rule roost in California.

AICN also reports that Eric Roberts has replaced Ben Kingsley as CIA man Church in the film, and that Stallone is currently trying to inject the right balance of "humour, action and emotional reality" into the script.

The Expendables features a veritable who's who of action legends in the cast, including Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham, making it a shoe-in for 2010's most testosterone-fuelled film.

They just need to somehow cram JCVD and Seagal into this flick to make it a fucking home-run.

There was an article i read a week or two ago saying that Sly did try to get JCVD but got turned down because JCVD thinks he can act now. Oh and the also tried to get Snipes but he isn't allowed to leave the country.

This thing just keeps getting better and better:

If you were thinking The Expendables couldn't get any more macho or testosterone-fuelled, think again, as yet another action legend has been added to the cast.

Bruce Willis - star of Die Hard one-thru-four as well as The Last Boy Scout, Armageddon and The Fifth Element - has signed up for what could be the greatest action movie of them all.

Speaking to MTV, Willis revealed that he has yet to shoot the cameo, but that he is leaving time open on his schedule for it. "I don't know anything about [my character] yet, haven't seen any pages" he explained. "But I'm excited about it."

And in news that is sure to excite action fans of the 1980s and '90s, the scene looks set to finally unite the three biggest stars of that era in the shape of Willis, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"That's the concept" Willis revealed. "That's the plan."

The Expendables revolves around a group of mercenaries endeavouring to overthrow a South American dictator, and stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Randy Couture, as well as the aforementioned triumvirate of testosterone.

I think they can pretty much close down Hollywood after this film. That'll be it.

So the first one was terrible, but sequel will expand its cast to include:

Jean-Claude Van Damme
Chuck Norris
Nicolas Cage
Bruce Willis
Arnold Schwarzenegger

And possible more!

Don't even joke about Nicolas Cage being there. He was only ever rumored, and it looks like IMDB even took him off the rumored list. Unless you're getting your information from even more dubious sources.

Good to see they're finally getting Van Damme and Norris in there. But you know who I really think they should try to get? Jackie Chan.

Stallone said: "We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one."

“We’ve got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage,” he continued. “We’re trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot."

Which, to be fair, is a bit of a back-handed compliment really.

When pressed about rumours Travolta would be appearing, Stallone said: “It’s possible. The one thing I’ve learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling. It’s not financial.”
