not the best for me either, but at least my dog didn't die. i did lose one on 12/23 once before though, in 1995.

I woke up one Christmas morning when I was maybe 11 or 12 to find my cat had killed the class hamster my sister brought home for the Christmas break. Killed it and left it on the rug in my room for me.

Not the same, but still. And that cat still lives!

That cat must be ancient by now. Our dog was 14.

Holly was a German Shepherd. my first pet of my very own, who i saved up for years to get. she got loose when my dad was letting her out while i was at school. she hated him, so she bolted through the neighborhood. i went out looking for her when i got home from school, and was seconds away from actually watching her get hit by a car. luckily(?) i missed that part, but she did die in my arms on the way to the vet.

that loss is a large part of why i do not have any pets going forward. i understand the unconditional love that is gained, but the pain of the inevitable loss seems to outweigh that.

your dog did seem to have a long life for a smaller breed.

Haha, about the only thing I've done right by myself so far is given up soda. I've gone 2 weeks and a day without it. :(
