I didn't get you anything. I took that money and used it to buy some other online person's Secret Santa gift. And wouldn't you know it, he got the package three days after I mailed it. No hassle, no hangups. Unlike some online circles I've heard tell of!

In Time - A nice little alternate-Earth sociopolitical film here. All humans cease to age when they turn 25, but they then only have one more year to live unless they work to increase the time they have left. "Time" is the worldwide currency, and the rich can live forever while the oppres...

Good gravy, the new Zelda game! I knew it was coming, but I didn't know it'd be out in a matter of weeks! I'll have to trundle over to the local GameStop and reserve a copy just to be safe. The game looks fantastic in every aspect so far, and I think this time they're really going to use the Wimote ...

I live fairly close to Grand Rapids where an Occupy group sprung up a week or two ago; didn't see it myself. It didn't last very long, because the mayor of Grand Rapids decided to actually enforce a city ordinance that states you cannot sleep in a public park overnight. Kind of takes the wind out of...

Real Steel - Your standard popcorn flick, at least I think that's what the kids are calling them these days. Hard luck old-timer gets reluctantly stuck with his long-lost son and makes an underdog comeback whilst learning about the true value of family and courage. The roberts are nice to look at, ...

Don't even joke about Nicolas Cage being there. He was only ever rumored, and it looks like IMDB even took him off the rumored list. Unless you're getting your information from even more dubious sources. Good to see they're finally getting Van Damme and Norris in there. But you know who I really thi...

I found History of Violence boring, to be honest. For a movie that has violence in the title, there's only three fight scenes, and the first two are awfully short at that. Plus I just didn't like Viggo Mortensen's acting and/or the character he was playing.

This brings back memories of all the whiners who said that they didn't want 80 hours of cutscenes in their video game. My response to that had always been, "80 hours is like 40 movies. You are paying sixty-ish dollars for forty full-length movies worth of entertainment. This is a dollar and a h...

Apparently they're called the Great Lakes Champions now because Jean-Grey's daughter whined about them calling themselves X-Men, and also because they beat The Thing in a poker tournament.

I don't really know what to say about that.

That stain on my bar is from a fone book that got wet and somehow transferred to the surface of the bar and I can't fucking get it off. If you haven't tried yet, I recommend a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. They work wonders on miscellaneous wall smudges and can even scrub off permanent marker. Since it's...

Not as many people as you'd expect from a JCVD movie. He doesn't play the suave action star in this one; he's just some guy that gets sent to prison. Once he finally mans up and enters the prison pit fights he has more of a rough-and-tumble whatever-works battle style, fighting harder but definitely...

In Hell - Jean-Claude Van Damme I found in the bargain bin packaged with two other JCVDs. Jean-Claude mercilessly guns down his wife's killer in the middle of the courthouse because the killer's family bribed the judge. He then spends the rest of the movie in a textbook Russian prison going through...

Well, I did some more looking and couldn't find any other sufficiently old-timey themes, so if we want one we're probably stuck with the options I listed previously. Personally I think they look nice on paper but might be a little too busy if we'd actually start using them. There's also little thing...

That is one swanky mechanized contraption you have there. It's so mystical and burnished, made even moreso by the mystique of not knowing what it actually is. Are we allowed to guess? If so I guess either miniature air compressor, or portable laser gun recharger.

Re: The Entertainment Purchases Thread.

I found an honest-to-goodness original Transformer at a garage sale for a dollar! He's a little scuffed up but in pretty good condition all things considered. He's an Autobot so I'm pretty sure he's Jetfire (the only plane Autobot to my knowledge), but I've got no clue what year or version he might ...

Please do. I went opening night and just forgot to post my review. The humans are all throwaway except the Alzheimer dad, but once it gets into the apes it's fantastic. It's amazing how much emotion and interaction they can convey without a single word of spoken dialog (hello again, Wall-E). There's...

Hey, the Great Lakes! I'm from there! Good to know I've got some non-mainstream supers keeping the Midwest safe. And I completely forgot that Squirrel Girl was part of this team.

I think she beat Doom by making squirrels climb all over him, Ghost. I forget exactly why that worked.

Yes it does! Hmm, strange, I don't seem to be seeing it. Did the access list get reset when you switched the board over? Or you could just be holding a grudge over me and not letting me wet my whistle during these dry and prohibitionary times. Anyways, a quick ten-minute search on The Google gave m...

Re: Too Many Spambots!

Yeah, I was wondering about those spambots. Felt like every time I checked the board there was a different "Newest Registered User". I'm not too keen on this theme either but I wouldn't know how to go about changing it. Does this new theme still keep our super-secret speakeasy that is hidd...
